A Plateau of willpower already?

Excuses. I hate excuses. They are so flimsy, yet I cling to them. Bah!

I had three weeks (21 days to change a habit, right?) of fantastic follow-through on monitoring my calories. Then, Week Four was a week of power rearranging of three rooms of the house which gave me lots of good exercise, but lots of calories. It went downhill from there.

Then we come to this week (Week Five). Newest excuse? Husband has been working the night shift and is home all day, but needing to sleep for part of the day. For some reason I'm allowing this to be a problem in the eating department. I've been cooking good meals all along, but I keep randomly grazing those extra calories and visiting the McD's drive-thru for Sweet Tea. I could try to blame it on the schedule, but that's really not the reason.

Mainly, I've lost sight of my long-term goal and letting instant gratification (Easter candy and Sweet Tea!) get in the way.

I've maintained my 3 pounds lost, but I'm up an inch.

And Aunt Flo has come for a visit. Chocolate cravings magnified!

The only thing that can get this turned around is willpower. I have no problem telling my son "no" if something isn't good for him. Should I call my mother and have her tell me "no?" I doubt it would help--I probably wouldn't listen to her, either!

On a positive note, we started some herb plants this morning. And, though it was 20 degrees on Saturday morning, it looks like we'll be in the 70s for a couple of days by the end of the week.

Spring is coming! A return of outdoor activity.

The willpower needs to return, too.

My favorite will-power mantra: "Don't give up what you really want for what you want in this moment."

I repeat that to myself every time I am faced with a challenging food choice. Sometimes it actually works!

Thanks for the mantra. I MAY need to tatoo it on my arm, though--the one that's reaching for the food!

I have already organized things tonight to make food choices easier tomorrow. I'm so very tired of being overweight!

Can you make sweet tea at home with Splenda? I know how hard it is to deal with cravings. I'm with ya!

OMG. That is sheer brilliance, Tessa!

My mind is whirling--I can drink something besides water without it cutting into my calories???

Definitely going to try that tomorrow.

Things are looking up! Thanks for the great tips.

It's o.k. Stay strong. I have a weekness for those Cadbury eggs myself :)

Cadbury eggs. They should be illegal. I hate to admit it, but I've had SIX in two days.

I wanted one today, but I didn't get one. I'm happy and sad at the same time LOL!

Tomorrow WILL be successful.

Whew, I thought I was the only one with a problem. STRESS. That is my excuse, and right now I'm sticking to it.

Cadbury eggs aren't a problem for me. It's those hard coated chocolate eggs (kind of like giant M&M's only they're not and not the malted kind). I don't like sweet tea, either, but I do like to have a Pepsi almost everyday. (Diet won't do, of course.)

The Pepsi-a-day diet, eh? I agree--the diet stuff is very disgusting.

Did you know that in other countries they get soda with REAL sugar in it instead of the HFCS? I would love to taste one to see if I could tell a difference.

I'm more on track today. What got me yesterday was the Martha Stuart Macaroni and Cheese that I made. 300 calories per serving . . . and I had two.

Here's the recipe:

Warning: I guarantee you'll gain a pound just by reading the recipe(!).

(Packrat--I'm still praying for you and your situation.)

Your inch is probably thanks to your dear Auntie! But congrats on keeping off the three lbs! Plain chocolate is not that bad for you, but the creme filling is! I heard someone once say that if you eat a Hershey Kiss in three bites it will make you think you have actually eaten more and still be satisfied. I originally heard this as "if you eat three kisses in one bite," but quickly realized my mistake!!

FarmMom--HA! You're probably right.

My mind uses that same filter when it comes to serving sizes and chocolate. Sad, but true!

Cadbury Eggs, though, are a huge weakness. I'm glad they come out only once a year...

I'm now up to a total of seven this season.
