My numbers

Oh dear. It's THAT time, isn't it? I just can't bring myself to write down my measurements. Nope, can't do it.

BUT, I will say that I need to lose 60 pounds. My son weighs 60 pounds. It's like I'm walking around carrying my son all day long. No wonder I'm exhausted all the time!

I will keep a running total of my pounds and inches lost. I will take measurements of my bust, waist, hips, thighs, and upper arms. I will add them together and then record inches lost on the sidebar as well as pounds lost.
I've got a "fruity" ticker at the bottom of the blog, just for fun.
That's my intent--to have "fun" while doing what I need to do.

About my blog name

As I've begun to read my guidebook, I've noticed word usage that doesn't seem so common now. One word my eyes caught immediately was "corpulence."

I didn't want to use that word.

I read further on and found this chapter title:

Set Your Date for Shapely Weight.

That was more like it. It also rhymed with the date of the book and the emphasis on retro that I was trying to achieve.

Shapely. It has a lovely sound to it, doesn't it?

My "Guidebook"

I love retro. I especially love the 1940s and 1950s. I love the clothes. I want to FIT into those clothes.

Which brings me to this blog's purpose.

Emily at Humble Labor featured a book in her Etsy shop. It was from 1958. When I saw the book, an idea was born. I know HOW to diet. I know WHAT I should eat. I have so much knowledge in this area, it's staggering.

Yet, I'm still overweight. Why? For me, a lack of "fun." When I think about having to cut back and eat foods I don't want to eat and NOT eat foods I do want to eat, well, I admit to a little bit of whining. Deprivation is just not fun.

Well, maybe I can MAKE it fun! Hence this blog.

If I am successful I will post "before" pictures. But since the "before" is actually "right now," I will hold off on splashing my image around!

About Me

I've tried many diets. Only two have ever worked and they were based on four things:

- Reduce calories
- Exercise moderately
- Eat quality food
- Drink water

I needed some motivation to attack this area again. I decided to combine my interest in retro things while following what I know will work for me.

Blogging provides accountability!
